The Cincinnati Bengals are signing New Mexico State Aggies assistant Ronnie Regula as a Quality Control Coach per Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. Regula served as the Tight Ends coach and Special Teams Coordinator for the Aggies last season. He will now analyze game film for the Bengals.
Regula has been the coach at several college football programs in his coaching career. He’s had coaching stints at Tennessee, FIU, UNLV, Notre Dame, New Mexico State, and his alma mater the Miami Hurricanes. He’s coached all three elements that a football team has, which makes him a perfect candidate for the Bengals.
He also has some ties to the Cincinnati are. Regula started his college football playing career at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati. He eventually transferred to the Miami Hurricanes to finish his playing career. Regula was also hired at Notre Dame by Al Golden, who left the Bengals to become the new defensive coordinator for the Irish. During his time in South Bend, Regula spent most of his time coaching special teams, and helped the Irish field one of the best special team units in the country.
