Montana Grizzlies Football

The Montana Grizzlies will play eight home games in 2025 according to a press release announced by the university on Tuesday. This will be a first for any FCS Football team. For the second straight season, Montana will play a 12-game college football regular season. The Grizzlies will play twelve games out of thirteen Saturdays between Labor Day and Thanksgiving. Montana Athletic director had this to say on the historic moment.

The opportunity to play eight home football games during the regular season is unprecedented in the FCS. We would not be able to build this schedule without the amazing fan base we have here at Montana. Putting a football schedule together is no easy task and I credit Ryan Martin with the support of Coach Hauck for piecing this together,”

Montana will start their 2025 college football season with four-straight home games in September. They’ll also play six of their first seven games at home. They’ll finish their season with a home game for the 124th edition of The Brawl of the Wild game. The Grizzlies will also play a rare non-conference game mid-season against Sacred Heart. While eight home games seems like an advantage, Montana will play all twelve games in back-to-back weeks.

The extra home game will sit well with university officials. Montana had the most accumulated attendance by far in FCS football last season, with over 78,000 more in attendance over the second place team in Montana State. They were second in average attendance with just over 25,000 packing Washington-Grizzly stadium. The Grizzlies went undefeated at home in 2023. Their success on the field had an impact on them selling out all six regular season home games. They’ll look to continue that streak for this coming season. If they can sell out every home game through the 2025 college football season, this program will have set the new bar in FCS football.
