Houston Christian Huskies DE Jalyx Hunt turned some heads with his performance at the 2024 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Hunt finished in the top ten of every event he participated in, and took top honors in the broad jump. The former Husky displayed extraordinary athleticism that has NFL scouts buzzing. He’s already racked up 16 interviews with NFL teams at the combine, and he’s expected to meet with more teams now. Here’s a look at Hunt’s stats at the 2024 NFL Combine.
40-yard dash: 4.64 seconds (first)
10-yard split: 1.60 seconds (sixth)
Vertical Jump: 37.50″ (fourth)
Broad Jump: 10’8″ (first)
In just two seasons at HCU, Hunt made 133 tackles, 13.5 sacks, and one interception. He also had three fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles. His performance helped land him to being named to the second team All-Southland Conference roster.
It’s not much of a surprise that Hunt is a very athletic guy. He started his career at Cornell where he played safety. He didn’t convert to DE until he transferred to HCU. While he doesn’t have a lot of experience at the position, Hunt is showing that he has all the tangibles needed to be an edge rusher in the NFL. He has a high ceiling when it comes to the pass rush, and he’s been solid in the pass coverage game. A strategy that several defensive coordinators are utilizing with stronger and faster ed rushers. Early NFL draft projections has Jalyx Hunt as a day-3 draft pick. But his stock has definitely risen, and will continue to rise as long as he keeps impressing the scouts.
