The 2024 NFL Combine is set to kickoff on February 26. Over three hundred players will head to Indianapolis in their efforts to gain interest from NFL teams. The South Dakota State Jackrabbits will send five players to the combine. In one way, it’s a little bit of a shock that a FCS Football schools has that many players participating. On the other hand, It’s not much of a shock that the FCS Football champion has that many guys going. Offensive line often gets overlooked by the fans at the combine, but NFL teams won’t overlook them. The Jackrabbits have a pair of guys in Mason McCormick and Garrett Greenfield that will try to impress NFL coaches and scouts.
Garret Greenfield played mostly left tackle for South Dakota State, and racked up quite a few awards with the Jackrabbits. He was on four different FCS All-American first team rosters in 2022 alone. In his career, Greenfield acquired sixteen awards between the MVFC and national outlets. He hasn’t missed a start in three seasons, starting 39 straight games. Along with awards for his performance on the field, Greenfield also racked up a slew of academic awards at South Dakota State.
Mason McCormick played left guard for the Jackrabbits. Like Greenfield, McCormick also racked up numerous awards in 2022 alone. For his career, McCormick acquired 20 awards, and also racked up several awards for academic excellence. He’s played in 42 straight games, and hasn’t missed a game since his redshirt freshman year in 2018. His on-field performance, character, and work ethic will make him desirable for many NFL Teams. Pro Football Focus currently has McCormick ranked as the third-best guard in the NFL draft, with an 87.6 overall grade for the 2023 college football season.
Offensive linemen will workout at the NFL Combine on March 3. That’s when you can see both Mason McCormick and Garrett Greenfield in action along with all the other plus sized prospects. Coverage will be broadcasted live on the NFL Network, starting at 1pm.
